The boxes are great for small publications that might not have the budget for nicer hardcovers (FBAA) and as advertising tools but not so great for casual consumers. I wish more publishers went the Cruel Prince or Shades of Magic route and had some sort of foil design on the hardcover or something that is easily attainable any time. The Iron Fey sets go for $500-700! Illumicrate’s dust jackets for ACOTAR also go for $500-700. Especially since book goodies and the books themselves go for crazy amounts online so there is a fear of missing out. Plus, they all have waitlists so it’s hard to pick and choose designs as a book collector and they usually all release at the same time and never restock later so people end up buying every edition.
